A three-day Medicinal Plant Cultivation and Marketing Training Programme was organized from 21 to 23 May 2026 at the KIRTADS Campus. The programme aimed to enhance awareness and build capacity among participants regarding the cultivation, conservation, value addition, and marketing of medicinal plants.
The training focused on various aspects of medicinal plant cultivation, including species selection, nursery management, cultivation practices, sustainable harvesting methods, and post-harvest processing. Experts from the fields of agriculture, herbal medicine, and marketing provided practical guidance and technical knowledge to the participants.
Special sessions were conducted on value addition, entrepreneurship development, market linkages, and income-generation opportunities associated with medicinal plant cultivation. Participants were also introduced to government schemes, institutional support mechanisms, and best practices for promoting medicinal plant-based livelihoods.
The programme benefited tribal farmers, self-help group members, entrepreneurs, and community representatives by equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary for sustainable cultivation and effective marketing of medicinal plants. The training contributed to promoting livelihood opportunities, biodiversity conservation, and the utilization of traditional knowledge systems among tribal communities.
The programme concluded with an interactive discussion session, enabling participants to clarify their queries and explore future opportunities in the medicinal plant sector.
