Observance of the 12th international day of yoga at kirtads
The Kerala Institute for Research Training and Development Studies of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (KIRTADS), under the joint recognition of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs (Government of India) and the Government of Kerala, officially observed the 12th International Day of Yoga. The institutional event was advanced and successfully celebrated on June 20, 2026, ahead of the global calendar date of June 21st.
The focus of this year’s program centered around the designated global theme: “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”. The session emphasized the critical role of regular yoga practice in promoting longevity, mental wellness, and physical vitality among individuals as they age.
The program brought together administrative staff, faculty, and institutional members under the guidance of key wellness experts and leadership. The official event was formally inaugurated by Dr. S. Bindu, Director of KIRTADS. In her address, she highlighted the importance of cultivating physical and mental harmony within daily institutional and personal routines. The keynote address was delivered by Suchithra VC, Yoga Instructor and Secretary of the Sangamam Yoga Club. She shared deep insights regarding the therapeutic dimensions of yoga, standard postures beneficial for aging demographics, and practical integration techniques for long-term health benefits. The event successfully concluded with an active awareness session, reinforcing KIRTADS’s commitment to holistic health, traditional wellness systems, and the overall well-being of its community members.
