Adilalakendram is a center to protect, promote and document the traditional arts of the tribal communities of the State. For the last few years, Adilalakendram has been conducting research studies and tribal art fairs etc. to promote traditional artforms of Scheduled Communities of Kerala. The most important among them are the studies/workshops conducted for the promotion of the arts of the tribal people of Paniyan, Kattunayakkan in Wayanad district, Mannan in Idukki district, Urali and Muthuvan in Ernakulam district, Koraga and Kudiya/Melakudiya in Kasaragod district and Kurumbar in Palakkad district. The main objectives of the studies are to ensure the continuity of tribal art forms to younger generation and to protoect and promote them in tandem with the art forms of the so called ‘mainstream socitey’. Adikalakendram also conducts orientation for school students to promote tribal art forms. Adikalakendram also played a key role in inclusion of the tribal traditional artforms in State School Youth festival from 2024 onwards. Adikalakendram also take initiatives for participation of tribal artist in national tribal festivals organized in different parts of the country.
